well, 3 years ago i got a badass alienware, and back then, you couldn't get a rig with the specs that alienware could provide anywhere other than alienware... today, that just isn't true. with alienware today, you're paying an extra 200-1000 dollars just for a cosmetic case. i went with dell xps and got a decent rig (except for the power supply) that cost about $400 more over at alienware. quad core q6600, single nvidia 8800 gt, 3g ddr2, runs at about 40fps @ 1280x1024 on high settings (with shadows on) but yea, just my 2 cents  |

Dell bought out alienware though now so alienware prices dropped considerably. They are very close price wise now since dell owns both  |

You can build a top of the line for cheap, I have a quad core, 4GB 1066 DDR2 ram, with an older ATI 256mb X1950XT that I built for 700. I can run on full settings and resolution except shadows.
Im upgrading the video card when Spore comes out.
